With the 2012 London Olympics right around the corner, four of the top U.S. track and field athletes teamed up for this photographic homage to the Beatles' Abbey Road album cover.
From left to right is gold-medal favorite in the decathlon Trey Hardee, who also dabbles in guitar and piano; Allyson Felix, a two-time 200m silver medalist participating in her third Olympics; two-time Beijing gold medal winner (400m and 4x400m relay) and trumpeter LaShawn Merritt; and Sanya Richard-Ross, who took home a gold medal in Beijing for the 4x400m relay.

The photo is especially fitting now that Paul McCartney is slated to play the Games' opening ceremony on July 27th. And he's not the only U.K. artist participating in the festivities. Electronic dance group Underworld will serve as musical directors of the opening ceremonies, while Blur, New Order and the Specials will play the closing ceremony. Muse, meanwhile, have been tapped for the Olympics' official song, "Survival."
For more musically minded Olympians, check out this NBCOlympics clip of sharp shooter Matt Emmonds strumming his guitar and talking about his favorite artists, like Neil Young, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.

Use Google to search for free MP3 files

The web is really a wonderful playground to find and share information with people all over the world.  A recent article I found on About.com talked about using search strings in Google to find free MP3 recordings. This will work with any artist or subject.

Looking for free music files on the Web is quite simple if you know how to frame your search queries. The information in this article is intended for public domain, legally obtainable content.
There's an easy way to find free MP3 files with Google; actually, there's quite a few easy ways. Here's one (this particular method via Tech-Recipes):

-inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:"index of" "Last modified" mp3

Okay, so let's break this down. You are attempting to find directories, so you don't want a a Web page (hence the minus sign in front of both the htm and html extensions). You're looking for the root directory, so that's where the "index of" in the title (intitle) comes in. And that mp3 file designation? You can change that to any file you are wanting to look for: wma, pdf, etc.
Now, how about looking for specific artists? Easy:

-inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:"index of" mp3 "beethoven"

Make sure you put the artist's name in quotes at the end of the search string. Now, there's another way to do this that might be a little bit easier; you're just changing the order of your search query around.

intitle:index.of + mp3 + "beethoven" -html -htm -txt

Basically, you're doing the same thing that you did in the first search string. You can narrow it down even further if you want to:

"index of" + intitle:mp3 + beethoven

All you're doing here is looking for directories with MP3 in the title and Beethoven.

Modifying things a bit...

intitle:index.of + mp3 + "beatles" -html -htm -txt

"index of" + intitle:mp3 + beatles

Beatles Live in Paris 06-20-1965

This has to be one of their best performances and one of my favorites. Enjoy.

Thirty nine years to the day prior to McCartney’s show in St. Petersburg (and 47 years ago today), The Beatles played 2 concerts at the Palais de Sportes in Paris, France on June 20, 1965. The Paris shows were the first of a 9 date, 15 concert European tour, the last time the Beatles would play live on that continent. The set lists for the 2 shows included several songs from their most recent album, Beatles For Sale, released back in December 1964 in the UK. Many of the songs on that album were covers, as the Beatles were short of new material at the time. In the US, that album was split into 2 discs, Beatles ’65 and Beatles VI, as Capitol Records, mistakenly felt that the band’s material wasn’t suited to the US Market. All 3 discs went to number 1 on the charts. Interestingly, right before they left for this tour, The Beatles spent 4 days in the studio working on their next disc. That album, entitled Help, would feature almost all new material with only 2 covers, the last time the band ever recorded a composition that they didn’t write. In addition to the title track, Help would feature a tune that would become the most recorded song in Yesterday. The album would be the precursor to such landmark records as Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper’s, The White Album and Abbey Road. Download this soundboard recording of their Paris concerts, therefore, to hear the Beatles on the cusp of taking rock in directions no one had ever imagined. By the way - the date on the artwork is incorrect.
